Homemade Valentine’s Day Gifts for Your Boyfriend

Minimum Effort, Maximum Result!

Valentine’s day is fast approaching. It can be stressful trying to think of a gift that’s everything all in one – cute, romantic and funny. Something that shows how much you care but also that you really are the best woman in the world.

How about a homemade gift? Well, a DIY project that will look impressive but wouldn’t require TOO much effort?

Here are some ideas for ya.

Love Potion Tasting Set (Alcoholic)

Get 4-6 small mason jars and decorate each with a bow, ribbons, and cute red or striped straws. Make simple cocktails (see recipe ideas here – you can choose the liquor you/your boyfriend likes and make different cocktails using one liquor for convenience).

You can make it into a fun game – i.e. if he can guess the name or ingredients of the drink, he gets a gift/prize!

Pop-Up Photo Box

Get a small jewelry box (you can find them on Amazon). Make sure the inside comes out so the box is completely empty. Pick the photos you want to include (probably 10-12 max) and go to CVS or any print shop to print out your pictures to match the box width.

Get some scrapbook paper. Then cut a long piece with the width matching that of the box and the length long enough for all the pictures to fit. Fold the scrapbook paper at the first mark and crease it in the opposite direction. Keep folding until you reach the end. Then glue each photo on each square. Finally, get a small piece of ribbon and glue it to the top of the scrapbook paper so he can use it to pull the photos up.

You can use additional stationary paper or paint for decorations.

Beer Cake Tower (3 layers)

Do you want to give him a gift that he would want to show off to his coworkers? Get some beer cans, cardboard, ribbon and letters to spell out his name (Papyrus or Amazon) . And tape + hot glue.

The size of this cake tower is up to you – but you can do 10 cans of beer on the bottom, 8 cans in the middle, and 6 bottles of beer on the top.

Lay out the first layer (10 cans of beer) so you know how big a round piece of cardboard you’d need to cover the top. Do the same for the second layer (8 cans of beer). The top layer of 6 bottles would go up last.

You can buy thick ribbons to wrap the cans and bottles. Use tape or hot glue (whichever is easier for you). Hot glue the letters of your boyfriend’s name on the ribbon (probably the second layer). Since the cardboard pieces are ugly, feel free to use spray paint or paint to give them a little more more bedazzle.

Put it in a big box or basket and hand-deliver it to him. It’ll be an unforgettable valentine’s day gift and he’ll be the target of everyone’s envy.

Oreo Chocolate Truffle (No Baking Required)

Oreo Truffle (Popsugar)

Does your boyfriend have a sweet tooth? Popsugar has this awesome no-bake chocolate truffle recipe that’s extremely easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package Double Stuf Oreos
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup white candy melts (get white chocolate you can melt)

Directions:

  1. In a food processor, chop up Oreos (including frosting) until a fine crumb is reached. Save 1/4 cup of Oreos for garnish.
  2. In a bowl, mix together Oreos (not the 1/4 you set aside for later) with cream cheese. Once combined, roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on a piece of wax paper (or a baking dish). Keep them in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  3. Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler until smooth. Get the Oreo truffles out of the freezer and dip them in the chocolate until they are fully covered.
  4. Place them on a new baking sheet and garnish them with the remaining Oreo crumbles.
  5. Put them in the refrigerator (NOT the freezer) until they harden/settle.
